14 days, 12 hours, 10 minutes.

That’s how long until I fly to Manila and backpack around South East Asia. That’s how long until I begin a journey of a lifetime.

It wasn’t an easy road. From planning out my career and knowing when to leave, saving enough money to backpack for 3 months (and support myself when I come back!) and managing expectations from family where backpacking is UNHEARD OF – it’s already a journey to get to this point!

I’ve spent months in planning. I’ve had doubts about the trip. I’ve bought and canceled multiple tickets but I’m here. Or at least, it’s coming.

14 days, 12 hours, 10 minutes and I’ll finally do what I’ve wanted since that fateful day in Kyoto – to travel Asia with nothing but a backpack behind me. 3 months, 6 different countries and 1 big opportunity to learn about the cultures that make each of them unique.

I want to say that this trip will change me. I want to say that this trip will shape me to become a better person. I want to say that I’ll be a wiser man when I come back.

But nothing is certain.

There is one thing that I am certain though.

The next 14 days, 12 hours and 10 minutes will be the longest of my life.
